Aeternum Wins up to $50,000 in Support from Alberta Innovates to Advance Digital Legacy Innovation

October 22, 2025

Funding empowers Aeternum to expand its secure family memory platform and preserve family legacies for generations.

AB – October 22, 2025 – Aeternum, a pioneering digital family legacy platform, has received  $50,000 in support from Alberta Innovates, the province’s leading innovation engine. This support underscores Alberta Innovates’ mission to propel bold ideas that create value and tackle pressing challenges.

Aeternum helps families preserve their stories, wisdom, and cherished memories through a private, secure digital vault. Unlike social networks or cloud storage, Aeternum is built for moments that matter. Bring permanence; ensuring that voices, values, and life lessons are safeguarded for future generations.

“We are deeply grateful to Alberta Innovates for awarding us a Digital Traction grant,” said Aaron Tong, CEO & Founder of Aeternum. “For Aeternum, this funding is more than financial support; it reflects the importance of building solutions that help families preserve their legacies. It accelerates Aeternum’s product development and strengthens our ability to preserve family stories, legacies, and memories. Helping families stay connected and comforted across generations.”

Background and Significance

The grant comes at a pivotal moment for Aeternum as the platform scales to meet growing demand. With over three-quarters of Canadians concerned about losing digital memories due to technology failures or platform shutdowns (Source: Canadian Digital Legacy Report, 2023), the need for secure, future-proof preservation has never been greater.

Alberta Innovates’ broader vision is to improve lives and extend the horizon of innovation by tackling challenges with transformative solutions. By funding ventures like Aeternum, Alberta Innovates is helping families prepare for the inevitable transitions of life with dignity, permanence, and love.

Looking Ahead

The new support will accelerate product development, expand Aeternum’s digital vault features, and support outreach to families across Alberta and beyond. Accelerated development will include our family tree, private memory creation, where families can preserve memories together, interact socially with them, and ensure they are passed on autonomously to future generations. Most important of all, the data stored on Aeternum is private to your family! No ads, no external content. All designed to make legacy preservation more meaningful, secure, and accessible.

“Receiving this grant marks an important milestone, but it is just the beginning,” added Aaron Tong. “ Looking ahead, Aeternum is committed to expanding our offerings with innovative features that safeguard memories and support families. As part of this growth, we are launching a program to honour those on the front lines, our police, firefighters, healthcare workers, and members of the Canadian Forces, by ensuring their courage, love, and sacrifice are preserved and remembered across generations. More details of this program will be released as our development progresses.”

Aeternum’s recognition by Alberta Innovates marks more than a financial boost; it is a validation of the urgent need to address digital memory loss in today’s world. As devices fail, platforms disappear, and data becomes fragmented, families face the risk of losing their most precious assets: their stories, their voices, and their legacies.

This support will allow Aeternum to lead the way in digital legacy innovation, bridging the gap between technology and timeless human connection. It reflects a growing movement toward treating memory as an inheritance as valuable as wealth, ensuring that future generations inherit wisdom, love, and identity.

With this support, Aeternum is better positioned not only to serve Alberta families but also to become a global leader in secure, private, and emotional digital preservation. By aligning with Alberta Innovates’ mission of tackling challenges and unlocking the potential of startups in Alberta, Aeternum demonstrates how innovation can be deeply human, touching lives far beyond the realm of business.

At its core, Aeternum is more than a platform; it is a promise. A promise that no family will have to say a final goodbye without knowing that their stories endure. This represents a bold step forward in shaping a future where technology is not just a tool for productivity but a vessel for love, legacy, and remembrance.
